Let's have Caffeine Dreams!
Caffeine Naps
Caffeine naps, also known as "coffee naps", "napuccinos" or "gummy naps" involve drinking a cup of coffee, other caffeinated beverage or taking 4-5 caffeine gummies before taking a short nap. The idea is that the caffeine will kick in just as you wake up from the nap, leaving you feeling more alert and refreshed than if you had just napped or just consumed caffeine alone.
There is some evidence to suggest that caffeine naps can be effective for improving alertness and performance. A study published in the journal Psychophysiology found that participants who consumed caffeine before taking a short nap performed better on cognitive tasks than those who only napped or only consumed caffeine. Another study published in the journal Sleep found that caffeine naps improved driving performance compared to a nap or caffeine alone.
More Lucid Dreams?
There is scientific evidence to support the idea that caffeine can help you have more lucid and colorful dreams.
Caffeine is a stimulant that can interfere with sleep and decrease the amount of REM (Rapid Eye Movement) sleep, which is the stage of sleep associated with vivid dreams. Some people who consume caffeine close to bedtime report experiencing more vivid dreams, but these dreams may not necessarily be lucid or more colorful.
Lucid dreaming refers to the state of being aware that you are dreaming and being able to control your dream. There is some anecdotal evidence to suggest that caffeine may enhance lucid dreaming, but more research is needed to confirm this.
Here's how we do it.
Find 15-20 mins in your day for nap time. Try under your desk, in the car or in a dark closet. Find the perfect spot where your co-workers can't take pictures.
Pop a half a pack of Punch'd, or more depending on your caffeine tolerance and the expected results of this experiment. Then "rest" your eyes. Set an alarm?
How did that make you feel? Super energized right? It's counterintuitive and most people will say naps make them feel sluggish. With Punch'd you will likely experience the opposite. Keep a dream journal and practice lucid dreaming techniques. Caffeine may be more effective in achieving lucid and colorful dreams.
Why does this work? Quick reminder of how adenosine works inside our bodies. Adenosine is a hormone in sleep regulation. When you're awake, there is a build up of adenosine in the brain, which inhibits the neurons, and produces tiredness.
Caffeine fights off the adenosine like a Champ, that's its job. That's another reason we're called Punch'd Energy. If there's less adenosine to fight with the caffeine works more effectively.
Caffeine Naps are Amazing!
We think they're the best. You are boosting energy levels by increasing your brain’s capacity to receive caffeine. You'll wake up a new person and who knows you may even come up with fresh solutions to problems at hand.
Caffeine naps can be an effective way to boost alertness and performance in the short term, but they should not be relied upon as a regular strategy for managing sleepiness or fatigue. It is important to consider the potential negative effects of caffeine and prioritize healthy sleep habits as the most effective long-term solution for managing sleepiness and maintaining alertness. There, we said that for legal.
